Heritage Guns' Comment

This gun represents a fascinating and fine condition example of the heavy weight sporting guns that became popular with wildfowlers at the turn of the 19th Century. There is some original colour hardening still visible on the locks and action and this coupled with the sensitive restoration makes it a highly 'shootable' gun for wildfowl, game or clays. This gun features seriously good barrel wall thickness measurements and combined with significant weight, would make a good wildfowling gun where the law allows. One notable feature is a 3 position safety slide enabling selection of automatic or non-automatic safety.

WE REGRET THAT THIS GUN IS NOW SOLD. IF YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR A SIMILAR GUN, PLEASE CONTACT US.

Half pistol grip Stock and 'snap-on' Splinter Forend are crafted from figured walnut. The stock carries negligible cast and is finished with a Clabrough moulded ebonite butt plate and grip cap secured by engraved screws.

The 20 lines per inch chequering has been cut to a slightly unusual sidelock design. The replacement stock is finished with a traditional linseed oil based preparation. This finish uses no grain fillers to achieve its deep, smooth lustre but up to 30 coats of hand rubbed oil.
