is very fortunate to have as our staff shooting coach and gun fitter, Toby Barclay who has over 15 years of coaching experience in both the game and target shooting disciplines.
Having served an informal apprenticeship at several well established East Anglian shooting grounds and several seasons double gun loading on a well known partridge and pheasant shoot, Toby moved on to become a professional shooting coach in 1994 when he qualified with the sport's leading association, the British Association of Shooting & Conservation (BASC).
Since then he has also gained a qualification with Britain's leading body in competitive clay pigeon shooting, the Clay Pigeon Shooters' Association (CPSA) as a Club Coach. He also holds the CPSA Club Safety Officer's certificate, BASC's Proficiency Award and the BASC Safe Shot Award.
In October, 2001 BASC reexamined its coaches under the auspices of the National non-vocational qualification scheme and after the mandatory three individual assessments, all passed with flying colours, Toby became an accredited C25 coach. At around the same time he became an Assessor for BASC's Safe Shot Award.

Toby, far left, regularly travels to other venues to run or assist with coaching events both for BASC and private organization. His reputation as an experienced coach and organizer lead to him being appointed as BASC's Head Coach at the annual Fenland Country Fair in 2000 and he was also offered the BASC Head Coach position at the prestigious annual CLA Game Fair in 2004 although unfortunately he was unable to accept the appointment due to other coaching commitments.

More recently, with BASC decision to move the training of its staff coaches 'out of house', Toby has become a mentor for BASC coaches, training the sporting coaches of the future. This facility is available to anybody with suitable attitude and experience and Toby would be delighted to explain the procedure for becoming an accredited BASC coach. See contact details below.

Regular coaching takes place at The Cambridge Shooting Grounds, Madingley Road, Cambridge only a few minutes drive from the centre of the historic university city of Cambridge.
Experience and gender are no bar to enjoyment of this exciting sport and Toby can supply everything from guns to shooting jackets for the adventurous novice to the experienced shot.
