Warranties

In general

Like any responsible, forward looking retailer, we want our customers to be delighted with their purchases.

To this end we aim to provide a high level of customer service:

providing detailed information and photos of our products;

helping our customers rectify any challenge they may have;

advising them how to get the best out of them in the long term.

However, different categories of product raise different challenges when dealing with warrantees.

New or recently manufactured accessories

Very simple:

If you are unhappy with your purchase for whatever reason and promptly return the item in an unmarked and original condition, we will refund your purchase price or, if you wish but at our discretion, replace the item with another of equal value.

Sadly we are unable to offer this facility where an item was a special order or personalized, unless your order was executed incorrectly.

All shipping costs will remain the customers responsibility unless we or our descriptions are at fault.

Antique, vintage and preowned cases & accessories

Almost as simple:

If the item is substantially not as described, we will refund your purchase price but we will NOT replace the item with another unless you are able to attend one of our exhibitions or workshop to make sure that the replacement meets your needs.

Again, we are unable to offer this facility where an item was a special order or personalized unless your order was executed incorrectly.

All shipping costs will remain the customers responsibility unless we or our descriptions are at fault.

All firearms

Before we deliver any firearm, we require the purchaser to sign that they understand our conditions of sale, the pertinent part of which reads:

'I understand that I am purchasing a firearm that may be in excess of 100 years of age and that Heritage Guns has had no control of how this gun was used nor maintained until the very recent past. Furthermore, I understand that Heritage Guns guarantees only that the gun has passed the UK proof test and is still ‘In Proof’ as defined by the UK Proof Houses and that no component parts are guaranteed beyond date of purchase.'

Having said that, we naturally want you to be happy with your purchase and will make all reasonable efforts to set things to rights if you have a problem with one of our guns.

First step is to let us know the nature of the problem. We can then discuss the best procedure to diagnose and fix it.

Although the customer's country may have excellent gunsmiths, all repairs will need to take place in the UK as we are unlikely to know their particular specialties, strengths and weaknesses.

Once a gun has been worked on by someone other than ourselves, any responsibility for repair that we might have accepted will cease.

Shipping for repair or replacement

While we will naturally offer all reasonable help in shipping the item to our workshops in the UK, the responsibility for arranging and paying for this remains with the customer.

Shipping insurance must cover the whole value of the package and all risks.

Three day, non-firing inspection

Full details can be found of our Purchasing page.

Generally firearms on consignment in the USA can be shipped subject to a 3 day, non-firing inspection period.

Unless we hear from you before the end of the 3 days inspection period, the sale becomes final.

If you have a valid reason to believe that the gun is substantially not as described and notify us within the 3 day inspection period, you can return the gun IN ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION by insured shipping at your own cost.

If the gun arrives back with us in a reasonable time, is totally unmarked and in its original condition, we will refund the cost of the gun but not any shipping charges.

Any damage to the gun will be rectified in our workshops in the UK and an amount to cover shipping to the UK and the labour/parts incurred will be deducted from the sum originally paid.

This facility is NOT available on guns specially exported to you.

Cross border purchases

If you purchase a gun direct from us in the

UK, the sale will be considered as final as soon as it is delivered to your elected delivery address.

There is no inspection or 'cooling off' period as we will assume that you have made all necessary investigations and inquiries as to the guns condition and suitability for your purposes before ordering its export.

We would remind you that our guns are sold under the proviso:

'that Heritage Guns guarantees only that the gun has passed the UK proof test and is still ‘In Proof’ as defined by the UK Proof Houses and that no component parts are guaranteed beyond date of purchase'.
