Exchange Rate
Given the recent volatility of international exchange rates, we have decided not to quote US$ equivalent prices on this stock list for the foreseeable future. If you are not conversant with the current exchange rate for your national currency, we suggest that you use a online currency converter such as Expedia's. This will give you an approximate guide to the price of any of our stock items or services. Please do not hesitate to contact us for a current price in your national currency if you are interested in any item.
Any guns with prices marked only in US$ & this light blue are held on consignment in the USA and can be purchased directly from the holder, thereby avoiding import costs.
Year of Manufacture Column
We have introduced this information into the stock list below and a little explanation might not go amiss.
In the UK, all breechloading shotguns that do not fall under an 'obsolete caliber' exception, for instance 10b chambered for 2 5/8" cartridges and all pin fires, can only be purchased or acquired by a holder of a shotgun certificate. Age of the weapon is immaterial to this: it makes no difference whether it was made in 1770, 1870 or 1970!
However, if a gun can be reliably dated to 1896 or before, it can be exported from the UK to a non-prohibited country under an Open General Export License which removes the need for an Individual Export License and its associated 'End User Certificate'. This makes the legal side of the export process wonderfully simple, quick and, better still, free!
Each country of destination will have its own rules relating to the importation of firearms but if we take the example of the USA, shotguns made in 1898 or before are treated as antiques and can be imported direct to the purchaser without any import license or the involvement of an FFL (Federal Firearm Licensee).
Conversely, guns made after 1896 must have an Individual Export License and its associated 'End User Certificate' to be exported from the UK and guns made after 1898 must have a Form 6 from the US Bureau of ATF and be imported through a FFL with an importer's license. The UK export can be simplified by using the facility of an exporter who holds an appropriate Open General Export License but this does not remove the need for an 'End User Certificate' from the foreign purchaser. None of the above costs much to achieve, just the patience and time to deal with the paperwork.
Obviously, this is greatly simplified but it gives the gist of the rules. Please contact us for a solution to your particular import/export question.
